Oscar is a loving husband and father. He also happens to be an otter. He is slightly sarcastic and driven by his stomach, but he never forgets his devotion to his home and family.

Part giant turtle, part maternal mystic, the Oracle is Valerie's guide on her quest. The Oracle is the life force of the estuary made manifest, a position passed down her family line. While her knowledge and power have a vast scope, she cannot solve problems introduced by humans. So she turns to Valerie and her friends, lending help along the way.
Val's mom is in the hospital for observation. Ready to be dismissed the next day, she wants Val to go home and not worry about her.
Besides being a capable and friendly physician, the doctor is also an active member in the community. Recently he has taken part in studies and clean-up of the local estuary.
Valerie's estuary seems to be more than meets the eye. Ever since Valerie's chance meeting with a talking otter, she has been led on a strange and magical path to heal a habitat. Between muscle-headed clams, omnicient turtles, and mysterious monsters, one might wonder if the estuary itself had a hand in all this...
